Baby steps.

This last month we have celebrated a few victories towards financial peace. First off we set a goal to not eat out for 30 days, we passed that with flying colors and celebrated at the local malt shoppe here in South Fork with burgers and milk shakes. We hope to continue this trend and reward ourselves monthly at small local restaurants.

Being on the road constantly, restaurants are just so convenient for us as they are for most people. We used it as an excuse and quickly realized after creating a budget that too much of our money was going to fast food! We made the change and haven't looked back. I really enjoy to cook, and am always satisfied with what I prepared. Not to mention how much healthier it is to prep and cook every single meal for our family. Before heading out for the day while the children eat breakfast Tyler and I quickly whip up a lunch to have by the river side. We have really enjoyed it and encourage you guys to try it.

Another huge feat we have achieved this month was ditching the credit card. Not that we had any outstanding debt with it, but it was a crutch. Scared to be without it. We convinced ourselves that the cash back was worth it for gas and groceries, when in reality it really wasn't. It's been a huge relief and has helped us stay on track towards financial peace. It has kept us from going and buying expensive items that we could afford but didn't really need. Again for the cash back.

I pray for a shift in our generation and the ones to follow. We leave our parents and go out into this world and quickly get told we need a credit score, instead we should be told " hey kid, save your money and come back to buy this car."
