Our new school curriculum has arrived

For the past 2 years we have been using "My fathers world" curriculum. Last year was our first year to be teaching two children. It was different and we managed. R was struggling to find joy in her school. It was always a battle followed by a nasty attitude that hung around all day. M struggled at first but definitely picked it up after a few weeks. Each child learns differently and we are about to begin our third year of home school. Either way regardless of the curriculum both girls succeeded and did great.

This year we decided to switch to a different christian based schooling. The last curriculum was Charlotte Mason style which we do LOVE. Its basically an "unschooling" method that focuses on the outdoors and the organic willingness to learn. Essentially she believed if the child wasn't excited or willing to learn about a certain topic, their brain is less likely to retain it. Like in high school I only learned what was needed to pass a test. With Charlotte Mason method the children learn and go in depth on the subject simply because they were curious and craved that new information.

Masterbooks is our new curriculum and its style is called a "living education". Each subject: Language arts, Math, History and science has its own "quests" each week, with its own story line with other kids. This allows an opportunity for our girls to learn about different people and cultures. This curriculum is absolutely gorgeous, it is filled with color on every page.

We were very excited about this curriculum because of its beauty and its method of teaching is very unique. It is also a lot cheaper! The only downside I see with this program is that it is cheaper but I cant reuse the books for another child. Our last curriculum was more expensive but it came with a teachers guide and then for the next child I simply had to buy a $50 workbook. As with anything we just have to test the waters and see how our girls adapt to it. We did decide to not start A in kindergarten this year, that's the glory of home school. If we feel our child isn't ready to sit down and learn we are not going to force her. Now she was just as excited for her sisters seeing the new school work and showed a lot of interest. If she continues to show motivation and completes her preschool book willingly we will start her! For now she will still with her little work book I got off amazon. Next year will be here year.

With that being said I hope everyone is doing well and thank you for coming and reading about our life. We really enjoy this! We are having trouble uploading photos, our camera phones are so advanced its hard for this site to convert the photos to use, especially with terrible internet. We are also headed to go off grid for the next 2 months I have some posts scheduled so make sure to come back and check it out!
